Breeding.

When our breeding plans got more concrete, back in 1963, soon some problems became clear:
The breeding base of the Leonberger was small and if everybody carried on the way they did the gene pool would only dramaticaly shrink.
We decided to maintain several lines and keep away from breeding only to champions, also because championships often depend more on the taste of the judges than on the quality of the dog. Over the years one also sees variations in taste and interpretation of the standard.
